February Employee of the Month – Darlene Loop

What do you call a self-proclaimed nerd with a biochemistry degree who wears matching sneakers with every workout outfit? Please meet this month’s Granite Falls Swim and Athletic Club Employee of the Month, Darlene Loop!

Darlene is a two-year veteran in the Membership Department, but as a long-time member of the club she understands the essence of the Granite Falls experience. “Our members are the differentiating factor from every other swim and athletic facility in the area,” she explains. “Sales are critical to any organization, but the people here are family and not a bottom line. I believe in our ‘product’ and see the club as a positive influence on the health and well-being for all who choose to become members.” Clearly, Darlene’s passion speaks directly to the club’s mission.

Born in Pennsyltucky, Darlene grew up on a farm and quickly realized that should she desire an alternative career, she would have to make an educational move. And a move she did make, graduating at the top of her high school class and then being named a Bausch and Lomb scholar at the University of Rochester where she graduated with the aforementioned biochemistry degree. Her achievements are a reflection of her life quote: “You are capable of more than you know. Choose a goal that seems right for you and strive to be the best … prepare to be alone and to endure failure. Persist!” E.O. Wilson.

Fast forward to the present and Darlene says, “I am consumed with keeping up with my two teenage daughters (Natalie and Makayla), two crazy puppies, and a husband of 17 years.” Her success as a membership consultant comes as no surprise. “I think self-doubt often creeps in when a person faces new or difficult challenges – believe in yourself!” Thanks, Darlene we believe in you and congratulations as the Employee of the Month.
